The Search

Through the darkness wandering,

silent footfalls upon the ground, guided

by lantern glow and the ambient light

of a thousand-thousand stars piercing

the blue-black dome overhead,

a solitary tree as companion, listening

to the hush-sounds surrounding,

and discovering the quiet voice within.

(This poem was inspired by a wonderful photograph I found on 500 px by Walter Patrial entitled "In Search of the Unknown", http://500px.com/photo/41673492.  Thank you Walter for the beautiful imagery!)

A Couple of Items

I read a poem today that I found powerful and heart-wrenching, a sad commentary of life that I wish everyone would check out.   It's a poem by Patricia Lockwood entitled "Rape Joke" found on The Awl (www.theawl.com)

The link is here:  http://www.theawl.com/2013/07/rape-joke-patricia-lockwood

Additionally, I have new quotes up at The Foolish and the Dead - -

Clouds in Your Eyes

I see the clouds
in your eyes,
amassing like thunderheads
on a not-so-distant horizon,
the blue deepening
to storm-tossed grey,
brows compressing

you cut your eyes to me
striking lightening -
my heart quivers, but
I remain unyielding;
It’s not in your best interest
to give way.

Then comes the rains –
solid sheets of tears
streaming down your face,
and like unswerving water
it dissolves my steadfastness.
I am no rock to remain
solid, unmoved by this natural storm.

Your smile breaks,
sunlight through clouds,
a wondrous light, my child,
wrapping tenaciously around
my heart. What miraculous defeat,
routed by the love of a child.

And after all, it’s only a puppy.

My New Life

You abandoned me to sit alone
as darkness fell once more,
wondering for what I should atone
when you walked out the door.

My life is full of tattered dreams,
and my body’s feeling blue;
you’re gone for good it seems
leaving me to brood and stew.

Telling me there’s someone new,
that nearly broke my heart;
I didn’t even have a clue
until we fell apart.

You left our world in a mess,
there was nothing I could do;
I always thought we’d pass the test
until this day was through.

But now that I’ve had some time to think,
about you loving another’s wife,
all I want is to have a drink,
and celebrate my new life.

About This Blog

The name for this blog was inspired by a quote by Nietzsche, below.

"Dancing in all its forms cannot be excluded from the curriculum of all noble education; dancing with the feet, with ideas, with words, and, need I add that one must also be able to dance with the pen?" ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I plan on this being the start of an incredible journey of discovery and creativity. I invite you to bring your pen, and come dance with me!
